Among the Braxis mountains stand many villages. That otherwise would be prosperous and wealthy, if it weren't for years of poisonous rain poisoning their lands and making them poverty striken and starved.

As an outsider you have heard news of this while visiting nearby lands. As an adventurer you are compelled to help, whether you're motives are pure of heart or selfish. You are in one of the many villages in the Braxis region, villages such as Ferngrove, Gansmark and Dalewood are all close to the dark and eerie caves that are said to be home to many demons, goblins and other monsters.

Callan approached Dalewood. He had been walking up hill for a day and was finally near a village.

As far as he had seen the land was barren and filthy. Nothing but corrupted soil and dead trees, even animal corpses were abundant in this time of blight.

As Callan entered the village he had pictured it being like other villages; people busy carrying out their daily bussiness and open shops. But this was different, there were barely any people out at all. The people outside were dressed in rags and were frail and starved.

The day was getting late and the sun was going down, Callan looked around in the failing light for an inn (If there still was one.) and made his way to a building with a weathered wooden sign saying "The miners den tavern."

Cutter "The Hawk" Hawkins stepped lightly, though with much more prowess than the majority of the people that occupied his village. Dalewood had at one been a beautiful place for him as a child. Now, though, in the midsts of this poisonous rain, it seemed every day to grow just that much closer to a ghost town. He faded black leather boots made dull thuds on the walkway to the "Miner's Den" tavern. His father's warhammer had to be adjusted on his shoulder for him to fit through the door with the stocky weapon after a long day of sparring. His clothes were drenched, both with sweat and rain. His dull shirt was almost translucent now from the mixed moisture of sweat, rain, and blood.

Earlier, as he recalled, he had struck his foe swift, with the large head of his hammer. A single hit knock-down, which forced open the nasal cavity and sent a spray of blood all over both men. That was when he had decided to come to the tavern. He needed a drink, and he wanted to get an ear in on any late gossip within the building that might lead to some hint as to where this rain was coming from.

Callan walked over to the bar, "Ye provide lodging?" Callan asked the barkeep. "We do, rooms are cheap at that, we don't get many of your sort round ere." The barkeep responded. Looking up at Callan in a friendly manner, while many others would have been very intimidated by a Shannoc warrior, this bartender seemed to be more relaxed and laid back.

"Aye, I'll have have two pints of ale." Callan said, slipping the coins over to the barkeep. As the barkeep went to get the ale, Callan looked around the dark and damp tavern, it smelled more damp and musty than most of the many taverns and pubs he had been in. There was only four patrons inside, (Himself included.)

As the barkeep returned with two pints of ale, Callan turned to him. "I'm supposin ye don't get much bussiness ere do ya?" Callan asked the barkeep. "Not at all, aside from the locals we rarely have outside customers. You'ld av to be the first we seen in many months." The bartender says handing Callan thr ale and taking the coins.

Callan turned and walked to a small table in the corner, where he sat back and took a swig of the ale. It was bitter and tasted similar to a cheap brew that he had encountered in the untouched villages a day ago. Obviously the folk here were importing their alcohol from dodgy merchants from down hill.

Made Callan wonder what else they had to import just to live up here. Still, Callan continued to glug down the imported ale.
